Boca Executive Airport

Boca Raton Airport is a state-owned public-use airport, and is governed by a 7-member Authority appointed by the City of Boca Raton and Palm Beach County Commission. It serves the recreational, corporate, and flight training needs of the community, averaging over 70,000 operations annually.

Airport history

Established in 1936, and then in 1941 the airport was selected as one of a number of places around the nation to house an expanding air corps/air force (known as Boca Raton Army Airfield at the time). After World War 2, most of the Boca Raton Army Air Field was deactivated, however, more than 800 acres were retained as the Boca Raton Air Force Auxiliary Field. In 1959, the remainder of the base was turned over to the City of Boca Raton and to the state of Florida. Over the next three decades, the airport passed through the stewardship of five different government agencies as it evolved to better serve the local flying community. In 2000, the airport opened its first control tower.
