Fulton County Airport

Fulton County Airport, also known as Fulton County Brown Field or FTY, is a public-use airport in Fulton County, Georgia.

Airport history

The airport has been active since September 1949. It is named after former Atlanta politician Charles M. Brown, who served on the city council and county commission in the 1960s (hence the nickname Charlie Brown Airport).

The airport is located 7 miles west of the central business district of Atlanta.

  • FTY is known for serving many of Atlanta's premier corporate clients. 
  • FTY is the third busiest airport in the Atlanta metro area. 
  • As the nearest airport to Jackson-Hartsfield International Airport, FTY handles much of the general aviation traffic that would otherwise go there. As such, it is economically important, generating $198.6 million annually for the local and regional economies. 
  • The airport covers 985 acres, and it has three runways, 8/26, which is 5,796 by 100 feet; 14/32, which is 4,157 by 100 feet; and 9/27, which is 2,801 by 60 feet. 
  • FTY houses a Georgia National Guard Armory.
