Dallas Executive Airport
Dallas Executive Airport, also known as RBD, is a general aviation and reliever airport for Dallas Love Field in Dallas County, Texas. It is owned by the City of Dallas and operated by the Department of Aviation (which also operates Dallas Love Field and the Downtown Heliport). It covers 1,070 acres and has two runways: 13/31, which is 7,136 by 100 feet (an asphalt concrete mix), and 17/35, which is 3,800 by 150 feet (an asphalt concrete mix).
Airport history
RBD was originally built in 1945 and was known as Redbird Airport (from whence its IATA code was undoubtedly derived). The airport has undergone several major expansions over the years. In 2013, the Commemorative Air Force announced they would build a "national Airbase" at RBK, including their headquarters and museum. In 2017, extensive work was done to improve the existing runway, and in 2018 runway 13/31 was extended.
Airport location
The airport is located six miles southwest of Downtown Dallas.
