Miami Executive Airport
This is one of Florida's busiest general aviation airports, serving corporate, recreational, flight training, and governmental agency activities.
Airport history
Opening on November 18, 1967, it replaced Tamiami Airport, next to the Tamiami Trail. The tremendous growth of the surrounding area and the nearby flight path to Miami International Airport had forced the move to the southwest, near the community of Kendall. A request for $1-million was added to the 2007 Miami-Dade Federal Legislative Package to extend runway 9R/27L to enable aircraft to increase their fuel and/or cargo load and to accommodate nearly 100% of midsize aircraft during wet runway conditions.
Airport location
Located just 15 minutes from the business centers of South Miami-Dade County.
