Santorini International Airport
Santorini (Thira) International Airport, or JTR to the IATA and LGSR to the ICAO, is an airport in Santorini/Thira, Greece. The airport can accommodate small to medium-sized jets. Ryanair, Aegean Airlines, and Olympic Air provide regularly scheduled service to JTR. In 2020, there were 572,963 passengers served and 7,286 aircraft movements (although these numbers were deflated due to COVID-19, as 75% more passengers were served the year before). There is one runway: 15/33, which is 7,208 feet (asphalt).
Airport history
JTR originated in 1972 when it began operations. The airport was privatized in December 2015, along with 13 other regional airports, as part of an agreement between the state privatization fund and the Fraport AG/Copelouzos Group joint venture, which was to operate the airports for 40 years starting on April 11th, 2017. The apron was redesigned in 2021, allowing JTR to serve up to nine civilian airliners simultaneously.
