Genoa Airport
Genoa Airport, also known as Christopher Columbus airport or GOA to the IATA and LIMJ to the ICAO, is an international airport built on an artificial peninsula. It serves the city, Port of Genoa, and Southern Piedmont. In 2018, there were close to 1.5 million passengers serviced. There is one runway: 10/28, which is 9,564 feet (asphalt).
Airport history
GOA originated in 1954 and was inaugurated in 1962. At the time, there was a temporary terminal building (replaced by a permanent structure in 1986), and the runway was 2,285 meters long. The airport was built on an artificial peninsula that was created by filling in the sea, which took eight years to complete, along with the excavation of Mount Croce.
