Los Cabos International Airport

Los Cabos International Airport, or SJD, serves the Los Cabos Municipality in the Baja California Sur State, Mexico. It is the sixth busiest airport in Mexico. It has two terminals: Terminal 1 operates domestic flights, with Terminal 2 operating international flights. There is one runway, 16/34, which is 9,843 feet long (asphalt).

Airport history

The airport's main expansion occurred in 1997. It was done by Mexican architect Manuel De Santiago-de Borbón González Bravo, great-grandson to Queen Isabella II of Spain, who is responsible for many famous buildings and national sites in Mexico. In 2015 Hurricane Odile badly damaged the airport, as planes were knocked against the structures. The Mexican government intervened and airlifted stranded passengers to other airports where they could catch connecting flights or receive consular assistance. In recent years, the area has grown increasingly popular due to the increasing number of holiday resorts and fast population growth. As such, the airport's infrastructure is now insufficient, causing a lack of positions for aircraft during peak hours. In November 2019, British carrier TUI Airways began flights to London's Gatwick Airport, the first European airline to fly to the Los Cabos area.

Airport location

The airport is located in San Jose del Cabo.

Airport facts

  • The airport is operated by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, which operates 12 airports throughout the Pacific region of Mexico.
  • There are a wide variety of restaurants at the airport, and they all accept Pesos or US Dollars, while most will also accept credit cards.
  •  The airline is one of the 30 busiest airports in Latin America.

You might wonder, why is private jet cost so high. With ownership, it has a lot to do with sunken costs that may not initially be apparent, such as storage fees, fuel costs, airport fees, and more. Fortunately, with XO, you need to concern yourself with none of that as you charter the aircraft you need and leave the rest to us.
