Catania

Lying on the east coast of the Italian island of Sicily, Catania was originally founded by the ancient Greeks and has been a part of several Empires and civilizations since then. The city is home to several castles, and Ursino Castle is an ideal destination, not only because it is fully intact but also because it houses the Museo Civico, an important museum that houses many artifacts from the region dating back to Hellenistic and Roman times. The Piazza del Duomo is the city center and contains several important pieces of architecture, including the Cathedral of Catania. Overlooking the city is Mount Etna, an active volcano that is the perfect place for hiking, biking, and catching perfect views of the island.
