Jakarta

The capital of Indonesia, Jakarta, resides on the island of Java. It is known for having a mix of cultures, including Javan, Chinese, Arabic, European, and more. It is home to several significant sites in Indonesian culture, including the presidential palace Istana Merdeka and Monas Tower, which represents Indonesian independence after the end of Dutch colonialism in 1945. As Indonesia is massive (containing over 17,000 islands), it is impossible to see everything. Still, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (Beautiful Mini Indonesia) park is arranged according to province (26 in total), with traditional houses, local cultures, and customs on display. The massive Istiqlal Mosque can hold 120,000 worshippers, while a trip to Thousand Islands Jakarta allows visitors to explore and enjoy various islands, many of which are secluded.
