Stuttgart

Historically, Stuttgart was the seat of the Counts and later Kings of Württemberg, and many of their palaces are still used today as government buildings. The city was also the birthplace of the first automobile and motorcycle, and the headquarters of both Mercedes-Benz and Porsche can be found here (along with their respective museums). The Staatsgalerie is a fine art museum divided in two, with the original building focusing more on art leading up to the 1800s with an emphasis on Renaissance masters. At the same time, there is a newer extension featuring Post-Modernism. The Killesbergturm features a cable-built tower 40 meters tall that provides beautiful city views. It is part of the Killesbergpark, which also features gardens, sculptures, and fountains, providing a romantic backdrop.
