Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki is renowned for its food, live music, stunning views, and more. Its influences are various, including the Romans, Venetians, and Ottomans. The Roman Emperor Galerius had an outsized influence on the architecture of the city, which included a palace, an arch, and a mausoleum, the latter of which became St. George's Church (although at one point it was a mosque under Ottoman rule, and a minaret was added at that point in time). The Ottomans also built the White Tower as part of the city's fortifications, and today a walk to the top provides spectacular views of the city and harbor. Of particular note in the city is the Archaeology Museum, which features a wide range of findings from prehistory to late antiquity.
