The Lola ya Bonobo in Kinshasa is unique, as it is the only sanctuary for orphaned bonobos. Described as dwarf chimpanzees, bonobos are only found in central Africa and are threatened with extinction, mostly due to human activity. The sanctuary is located just outside Kinshasa, and the minute primates are brought back to health before being released back into the wild. It is a perfect opportunity to visit these unique animals and see the work being done there.
