The Al Masmak Fortress in Riyadh was built in 1865 of brick, mud, and clay and symbolized the strength of the city (which, at the time, was a kingdom). The Fortress played a historic role, as in 1902, it was captured by King Abdulaziz, who used it as a base to conquer and unite the different kingdoms that today make up modern Saudi Arabia. Today it serves as a museum where the history of the country can be explored, including historical artifacts, works of art, and various presentations.

One of Jeddah's most notable art installations is Bicycle Square, which features a 50-foot metal bicycle sculpture, one of the most known attractions in the city. Designed by Spanish artist Julio LaFuente and installed in 1982, the giant bike is at a roundabout, so it is easy to drive by or stop and take pictures.
