Overlooking Tbilisi is the ancient fortress of Narikala, which dates back to the 4th century. Extra fortifications were built in the 16th and 17th centuries, and in the 18th century, the Persians repeatedly tried to capture it. In modern times the fortress sits majestically on a mountain, offering beautiful views of the city below.

Ostankino Tower in Moscow is a free-standing television and radio tower. Built in 1967, it was the tallest free-standing tower in the world at the time at 540 meters (it is the 12th tallest today). It has an observation platform and a restaurant and has also featured a unique sporting event in 2018 (a race up the tower stairs, up to 337 meters).
