Dating back to the 630s, the Hagios Demetrios in Thessaloniki is a church built for the city's Parton Saint, Demetrios, on the site where he was martyred. It features some panels that date back to the time it was built, as well as a crypt with a Roman bathhouse (where the saint was kept and killed). Today the church serves as an exhibition space dedicated to Byzantine finds from nearby archaeological digs.
